Newcastle Disease Vaccine, B1 Type, LaSota Strain - Live Virus

Indications

Live LAS is recommended for vaccination of chickens against Newcastle disease for both initial vaccination and revaccination.

Description

Live LAS is a live, CEO virus vaccine. It has been lyophilized (freeze-dried) in vials and sealed under vacuum to preserve stability. It is supplied with or without diluent.

Vaccination Schedule

This vaccine is recommended for use as early as 5 days of age or older. Revaccinate 3 to 6 weeks later. It should be used as a revaccination after the use of the B1 strain of Newcastle Disease Vaccine. For replacement pullets, a booster vaccination should be given between 16 and 18 weeks of age.

Vaccination Methods

• Drinking Water Method
  Drinking water vaccination should be done during the cooler part of the day. Remove any disinfectant or sanitizer from the drinking water for 24 hours, prior to and after vaccination. Rinse all waterers with clean water prior to vaccination. Withhold drinking water for at least one hour prior to vaccination, to allow birds to get thirsty. Mix vaccine in the drinking water according to the schedule mentioned in the pack insert, supplied with the vaccine. Provide ample drinking water space to all the birds.
• Intraocular Method (For 1000, 500 and 200 dose size)
  Rehydrate the vaccine with the diluent provided. Place the dropper over the vial containing the rehydrated vaccine. Hold the chick with one eye turned up. Put one drop of vaccine into the open eye and hold until bird swallows.
  
• Intranasal Method (For 1000, 500 and 200 dose size)
  Rehydrate the vaccine with the diluent provided. Place the dropper over the vial containing the rehydrated vaccine. Hold the chick with one eye turned up. Place one finger over one nostril. Instil one drop of vaccine into the open nostril and hold until bird breathes in the drop.
• Coarse Spray Method
  Use only for revaccination. Rehydrate with cool distilled water in an amount sufficient to vaccinate the required number of chickens according to the directions of the field sprayer manufacturer. Field spray application should be used only in house s that can be tightly closed. Close all windows, doors, ventilators, etc. and turn off fan. Spray each 1000 doses of vaccine over 1000 birds. Leave the house closed for at least 15 minutes after spraying. Caution - Always use eye goggles when spraying a live virus vaccine.
